Sweetheart

"Listen to yourself, sweetheart. A MONSTER? On this island paradise? Don't be silly! Women, huh, what will they think of nexAAAAAAAAH!"

This was a decent survival/creature feature movie. The main character is smart, but not magically capable. Creature reveal was super cool and while the movie does drag in the middle part a little bit and I wasn't a big fan of the stuff towards the ending, it's a very solid horror feature with a fresh enough concept and setting.

Why was the monster kinda...

It's decent but the monster is pretty damn cool so it got that going for it. Didn't really like any of the characters including lead. But the monster did it for me.

Generic feeling monster movie. Generally, low-budget and indie movies tend to play up some kind of eccentric angle, or use strengths--such as dialog, or storytelling--to make up for budgetary deficits, but "Sweetheart" doesn't really do any of that, it just tries to be a decent, run-of-the-mill, movie, and for what it's worth, the effects, when they are used, are actually pretty serviceable.

A small and entertaining movie with good monster design. Not pretentious, just fun. Worth a watch.

Teens might enjoy this.

One step above a student film.
