Sweet Adeline

Rote stuff. Probably should have ended up with Louis Calhern.

Neither of the leads become very likable and we certainly don't want them to end up together. One would expect that with Donald Woods, but with sweet adorable Irene Dunne?! That takes some doing! Plus even in a show environment they manage to make in plain boring with very forgettable song numbers to boost. Only thing that saves this for me is the supporting cast of Hugh Herbert, Ned Sparks and Nydia Westman adding some mild laughs....
