Suspense

Ten minutes of great, innovative shot after great, innovative shot. I want to think that Alfred Hitchcock saw this on his 14th birthday and made some plans.

Weber basically invents the thriller, complete with split screens, car chases, smashed doors, and despite some really dated character tropes it just zips... and yet what I can't shake is the question "Who the hell keeps a complete sandwich lying around in a cupboard?"

Only a year after Griffith's similar A Burglar's Dilemma, but feels a generation more advanced with its lively and inventive camerawork.

I love that a film made by and starring the most prominent female early film-maker does absolutely nothing but further the helplessly hysterical dame stereotype. Also hilarious is the typically American idea of "oh no we better lock all the doors and destroy the keys or tramps will prowl menacingly around the house, sneak into our kitchen and eat our sandwiches!" All this said, it has some fantastic camera work and the use of split-screen and cross-cutting really builds suspense well. Enjoyable.

An incredibly innovative early film. The triangle scene and the chase sequence are incredible

Nice little skit with a few interesting editing techniques. Definitely dated in its depiction of pretty much everything, though. Helpless women, violent hobos, cops whose actions turn on a dime.
