Survivors

I have never really liked the application of the term “survivor” to illness (or abuse). I’m not entirely sure why, but I think it is mostly because it comes across as a dilution of the concept as applied to the Holocaust, in the interests of this or that public awareness campaign or other agenda. But it’s not only that, it’s something to do with the mix of announcing being ill as a kind of victimhood while simultaneously proclaiming one’s proud defiance. The film itself has little to say.
