Superman - The Mad Scientist

Superman punching a laser isn't the dumbest thing he has done but it's pretty close! Nostalgic rush watching this again, it's been about 30 years since I rented a tape of these visiting grandparents and the machine imagery all came flooding back. He punches the laser. I got my mouth washed out with soap because I couldn't stop saying Clark Fuck, the height of comedy.

Oh yeah, this is why I hate Superman.

Doesn't he say "This looks like a job for Superman!" rather loudly with those people in the room?

I've never been a huge Superman fan to begin with, and this boring cartoon doesn't do anything to intice me.

Superman spends a minute and a half of the 10 minute short fighting a laser beam. Not the machine, not the scientist controlling it, the actual beam of concentrated light. This sucks, as does the stupid wink at the end.

Superman was already punching lasers in 1941. This time he has to stop some Chairman Mao looking dude conveniently named The Mad Scientist.

...but only for the animation.

I really don't care for Superman as a character, but the animation in this is pretty damned good.

Beautiful animation. Also, Superman punches a fucking laser.

Just the right amount of comedy and good-ole-fashioned butt kicking (Superman -punches- the giant ray). This did as much for the mythos of Superman as the comics.

Silly, but diverting

I generally hate Superman, and I'm a big fan of comics. All the same, the animation is really beautiful and stylized in this, and the cartoon is entertaining in all its cheesy splendor.
