Even though it’s got spot-on elements of the video game and one of the earliest examples of translating a Video Game to a movie, it’s just really bad. The English Dub I watched made it unintentionally funny and nothing made sense, but it’s just not that fun to watch. Might be only 60 minutes long but man it felt longer honestly.

This is a weird Super Mario anime adaption that's not that good and features bad voice acting and too many lame musical numbers.

Ok to be fair I've only seen a fan dub of this movie. That being said, idk if any form of sub/dub can make this make sense beyond the basic suspension of disbelief associated with the original game. It's a super surreal, often randomly bizarre but ultimately entertaining flick.
