Sûpâ no onna

good movie

So cute! The same way Tampopo is about our relationship to food this is about the idea of the local grocery store as this shared cultural space and it’s very idealistic in a wonderful way while also being funny and exciting and silly. Itami is maybe cinema’s best ever wife guy???

I especially liked the first half of the movie, the main reason being Nobuko Miyamoto and her quirkiness. The last 15 or so minutes seemed hokie (referring to the truck scene, seemed out of place), but it didn't detract much from the film.
The two lead characters have great chemistry.
