Eileen is 22 and engaged to Russ. She comes to New York to visit her brother, an airline pilot. One of Eileen's concerns is that she may be the only 22 year old virgin left in the world. Russ assures her that sex is not want all men look for and that he does not, in fact, concern himself about different women every time. Eileen is unsure about marrying Russ, and decides to see if she can have some fun for herself in New York. But can she have that kind of fun with Mike who she meets on the bus? (imdb.com)

Jane Fonda is very cute and the men here are quite witty. Not sure about the film's message though---do we support Fonda's misguided female liberation (oh she's such a beginner!), or should we cheer on the men's hypocritical paternalistic protection of her? Also weird to see NYC without any minorities. This is some boomer's fantasy. I, too, want to buy into this dream of a sexy, chaste, but willing American beauty who will be devoted with minimal effort. Fav scene: brother listening to excuses.

Sweet and charming sex comedy has surprisingly aged quite well, thanks to sincere performances from all concerned; Fonda's against-type virginal lead comes off best, but Taylor and Robertson are both a lot of fun, with Culp perhaps too overdone at times.

A romantic comedy built around premarital sex and fate. The movie unfolds as expected with a predictable storyline.

Viewed March 19, 2021. An affable comedy about sex that's really never funny, it coasts on the charm of its three lead performers (Jane Fonda is extremely compelling in one of her early light romcom roles, and Cliff Robertson wisely underplays his supporting role as Fonda's womanizing brother) and the fact that, unlike so many of these stagebound 60s play adaptations, a fair amount of it is shot on location throughout Manhattan.

A charming romcom that feels like a sitcom. Funnier than anything in this film, according to Wikipedia, is Jane Fonda later saying in 2018,, "surprised how many people say they love Sunday in New York.. Why?"
