They continue pouring out exotic color films with Maria Montez & Jon Hall. Was this their 6th and final film together? I think so. By this time it had ran its course and all I could thing of was, they always managed to give Andy Devine the most ridiculous parts! The most unconvincing North African of all time, and I love him for it!

Escapist fluff, and surprisingly watchable, considering the implausibility of...well... everything (including the title, which is never even referred to--it's set in Egypt). Maria Montez really couldn't act, and Andy Devine's cornball antics seem transplanted from a different flick altogether. It lacks the wild camp of some of Montez's earlier outings... like Pauline Kale wrote of "Gypsy Wildcat", it's like opera buffa without the music (this was her last Technicolor extravaganza for Paramount).
