This early 90's "Boyz n the Hood"(1991)/"Menace II Society"(1993) style urban drama, has a unique blaxploitation style from the director, Jamaa Fanaka. Noted member of the "L.A. Rebellion" film movement, Fanaka's last narrative feature film was rooted in the crack epidemic in Los Angeles, but unlike the more serious dramas, this low-rent action/drama has a campy exploitation charm from using things like kick-ass theme music, a transvestite gangster, and recreational air-vehicle drive-bys.
