The production values were good, but the plot wasn't convincing. But it was nice seeing them not going for any special visual gimmick for this entry in the Inner Sanctum series, letting the acting do the talking, so to speak. Lon Chaney Jr. was the heavy hearted person he was supposed to be, so that's what kept me in this.

It's not great, but boy this sprightly little thriller is a weird breath of fresh air in the consistently underwhelming Inner Sanctum series.

Lon does his usual overwrought conflicted thing, but I must say that I really enjoy watching J. Carroll Naish in most any part he plays. Here he's a sleazy owner of a pharmaceuticals firm, always rushing drugs onto the market before they've been properly tested -- so that part of the story is still relevant today. As much a soaper as suspense, this is unreasonably entertaining for a cheap piece of rubbish. Also, this is how to handle violence and grue: we never see what's in the bag, but we know
