Stepping Toes

Some producers trying to Shirley Temple little young Hazel Ascot without succeeding. This was the second and last film they attempted with her (Talking Feet (1937) was about the same quality) and the result is rather bland. She doesn't have the personality for it. Sweet girl, talented too, but far too ordinary to capture any screen magic. Most of this was dull anyway, only saved by extensive musical numbers toward the end, without it really saving the overall impression.
