State Penitentiary

State Penitentiary (1950) is a very unpolished prison affair, which tries to emulate the contemporary trend of mixing fiction with a more realistic documentary effect. It's a little too unambitious to pull it off, but at least it was an attempt of shaking up the B-movie experience. It's place in history is as Warner Baxter's final film. The man who was one of the earliest winners of the Best Actor in a Leading Role Oscar looked very frail and would pass away the following year.
