This movie was god awful and it didn't even star Casper Van Dien, the Max Von Sydow of my generation. Not in that he's a great actor, but more like every time he shows up in a new movie everyone in the room muses, "He's still alive!?!"

The only good thing about this film is that the lack of proper funding forced a creative approach to lighting. Throughout the film the sole source of light only comes from the actor holding a torch. It does add to the tone of being in a cramped, contained and poorly lit space. However the rest of the film is awful. There is no hilarious satire. There is no action. It's a very poor sequel which should be avoided.

Not nearly as bad as most would have you believe. Just watch it with an open mind and realize it was made for more than a tenth of the budget of the original. With a whole new cast and director of course it will be different, and that is ok. The action and acting are pretty good.

The opening half hour made me think I was watching the worst film I had ever seen but the overall experience improved ever so slightly when they switched to a 'Thing-Lite' premise. That said, it's still an absolute turd of a sequel which is crushed under the weight of any comparison to the original, and it's a prime example of how not to make a low budget sci fi movie.

Could be just about excusable as a standalone piece of Syfy Channel's 3 AM programming (all due to gore and tits) but as a sequel it's pathetically poor going. Somehow they managed to miss everything that worked in the original. The writing is beyond awful, production quality is on par with cheap TV and it just looks like it was slapped together in a weekend with no one giving it any thought let alone passion. I'd find this offensive were I fanatic about the original, or a believer in humanity.

I've always thought the hatred for this sequel was unjustified. Sure, nearly all aspects are terrible and it doesn't come close to the original (or the threequel) but it still ends up being a nice, atmospheric Sci-fi flick, just try not to think.

A weak, little body snatcher horror flick, which in no way is related to Starship Troopers

Virtually unwatchable badness. I watched the whole thing through to make sure it wasn't a joke. I would have preferred a punchline.

The first half of the movie is pretty waste of time. Starting from there the only light of the movie is Kelly Carlson who's full frontal naked most of the time. All points for her.

You know that dude who had his brain sucked out in the first Starship Troopers, the one who thought that he had a chance with Denise Richards? That character, not the actor, probably wrote and directed this because that's the only explanation I can come up with that makes any sense for Starship Troopers 2 to be this bad, devoid of anything redeeming, and without even the faintest whiff of satire.

As a sequel this seems pointless. It doesn't trudge on any of the last film's subtext or even its plot beats; instead, it's more of this psuedo-horror with incredibly boring drama and a failure to create any tension whatsoever. I'm not against having unique directions within the same universe, but what this movie achieve by doing that exactly? It has some okay special effects, but the general visuals are extremely limited and boring and virtually nothing is happening most of the movie.

It was always unreasonable to expect this sequel have the gleefully nasty, satirical Verhoeven edge, but it is still disappointing to see Part 1’s ideas neutered into mundanity; with Tippett stepping behind the camera, it’s no surprise that the effects work and creature design is of a surprisingly high standard for a direct to DVD knock-off, but generally mediocre, interchangeable performances, and a premise that’s (bizarrely) an overwarmed rehash of THE THING, make this bland and unmemorable.

Reinterprets Starship Troopers as I guess basically a haunted house movie. Best thing I could say is that condensed to 42 minutes it might have made a passable - not even that good, but passably average - midseason “bottle episode” for a Syfy channel military sci-fi series. As a film and a sequel to Verhoeven’s original it’s unfortunate any way you slice it.

This sequel carries only shards of the original's personality or meaning and they too are entirely lost in a godawful, narratively limited script inundated with cardboard characters, cringe-worthy dialogues, piss-poor attempts at aping the first film and cliched subplots including a tasteless expansion of Arachnid lore, while the acting is so spectacularly unconvincing you're constantly reminded you're watching cosplay. If it weren't for the decent effects, this would've been utterly abominable.

Amazingly bad. Not only is the writing spectacularly awful, the budget was clearly less than the £20 I currently have in my wallet as I type this review, and the actors are some of the least talented idiots ever to bumble their way accidentially in front of movie camera. It genuinely sucks balls.

This movie remindet me about movies like Dawn if the Dead 2 and other crappy sequals. I didn't like this Vietnam thing, it worked in Alien but fails in this movie. And I didn't like characters at all. Fail as movie and double fails in everything else.
