Musical to cheer the soldiers up, with a ton of big star cameos and a plot that doesn't keep the thing afloat.

Hollywood salutes the men heading for the Korean War with a variety show and a really dumb romantic plot in an effort to give the film a narrative. Luckily it's the individual scenes and numbers that shine. Gene Nelson's "Magic" number in particular makes the whole thing worth it. Hard to be objective on this one since it was filmed at a place I used to live, only 60 years earlier so it was fun pointing out landmarks. And, as hokey as it is to say, I kinda wish they still made movies like this.
