Pop, a security guard at Paramount has told his son that he's the head of the studio. When his son arrives in Hollywood on shore leave with his buddies, Pop enlists the aid of the studio's dizzy switchboard operator in pulling off the charade. Star Spangled Rhythm is another in a long line of showcase pictures where they trot out every actor on the lot and have them do a scene or two. The story itself wasn't good and a lot of the musical numbers felt lacking. Cameo watching was the best thing about this.

A real fun musical with a ton of cameos! Not be the best material they ever delivered, but everything about the show went by so quickly nothing outstayed it's welcome. Think of it more as a bonus feature with your favorite stars, plus a nice little story wrapped around it with Victor Moore trying to impress his son pretending to be a Hollywood executive when in reality he's just a gate opener. Happy movie.
