Stand Up and Cheer!

Strange one. A loose story of Warner Baxter being appointed by the president to make the nation happy and out of the depression. So the movie is built up of short vaudeville performances and cheap imitations of Busby Berkeley numbers to get the people back in a cheerful mood. The idea is sort of interesting, but the execution is pretty much off. Shirley Temple stole the show with her singing and dancing. There was also a penguin imitating Jimmy Durante!
