In 1915, German Counter-Intelligence Chief Von Sturm learns that someone is providing the British with critical strategic planning for the Turkish theater. He suspects Ali Bey, Turkish commander for the Dardanelles, and dispatches Annemarie to Constantinople to secure the proof. En route she becomes involved with Douglas Beall, a footloose American. World War 1 spy drama àla Mata Hari with several references to the legendary spy. Here Myrna Loy is finding herself in dangerous territory falling in love with an American while being in Turkey to seduce a commander there. And it's quite well done with several slow suspense situations about her identity and the games spies play with their victims. While the American George Brent in good form bringing the witty romance bit with a nice little touch for the ending. A pleasurable film.
