In the early 21st century, teenage girls between the ages of 15 and 17 begin dying all over the world. Shortly before they die, the girls succumb to NDH (Near Death Happiness), a "pre-death" state of absolute bliss and joy. Once dead, girls come back as a flesh-eating zombie nicknamed "Stacy".

Tedious and annoying, this doesn't even work as a campy film. Watch it if you have to see absolutely every zombie flick ever made, but if you're looking to see an entertaining movie, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Japanese schoolgirl zombies, what more to you really need to know? Well, if you're into Engrish, you'll note that the colourful chainsaws being sold as the latest indispensible fashion statement (in case you need to chop up your daughter before she eats your flesh) is called the Blues Campbell Right Hand. Which is only one of many little zombie flick references (the official zombie hunters are called Romero Repeat Kill Troops). Fun, bloody, slightly skeevy... japanese schoolgirl zombies.

An utterly bizarre but sometimes quite funny film that not only makes fun of the Japanese tendency to favor teenage girls as sexual objects, but pokes fun at many zombie film conventions. It gets chaotic towards the end and the ending itself is very weird, but it's worth a look.

Beyond the gore, beyond the horror references, beyond the quirky Japanese pop culture lies a film more complex than it first looks; just like the Stacies that embody this film's namesake. Is it Misogyny or Misandry? The acceptance of either or the rejection of both? In this crazy mixed up world it's hard the say and this film captures that brilliantly. It delves deep into the psyche and you may not like what it pulls up and out from down there. Japan's straight to video industry at its finest!

This movie is extremely jumbled and erratic, and despite its ritalin-affected pace, it is still overly predictable. If you watch it as some sort of abstract comedy, it might work, but otherwise, your guess is as good as mine.
