Utterly charming musical, if ultimately a little too flossy and insubstantial - clearly designed to 'chase the blues away' for 1935 audiences, and still holds up well some 80 years later, thanks to a spirited performance from Balfour, a warm and ingratiating leading turn from Holloway, and a show-stealer from Harker as Balfour's no-good Dad. Amusing to see Holloway courting the Eliza-ish flower girl, while contending with the machinactions of Harker's Doolittle-like father!

A incredibly light UK musical with Betty Balfour and Gordon Harker as her no-good dad. Balfour was alright, but her musical numbers were totally forgettable. Thankfully Stanley Holloway's time in the spotlight was a little better and saved this from being a waster. Sweet overall for a cheap popcorn production.
