Occasionally exciting Sci-Fi Horror with many tense moments and a few memorable scenes. Oksana Akinshina is pretty sweet in this. The monster was and the premise was on pretty shaky ground. Good acting and production quality, but the CGI was not entirely satisfying. I am a fan of Sci-fi so overall I enjoyed it. Worthwhile.

The finale actually hurt the film a bit for me but by no means tanked it, and I didn't HATE it. It was just a lesser part in an otherwise great movie. Up until then it was a psychologically driven, horror-tinged, beautifully--but slowly--paced examination of an alien and human having a symbiotic relationship. Some wonderfully put together scenes. Wasn't flashy directing or anything, but the general dimness added to the endless curiosity/tension between everybody, human and alien.

Alien 4-ever. Comes up with a great idea but ultimately struggles to know where to go with it in the last act. Which is one useful metaphor for a Soviet-era setting, I suppose.

Okay here's the thing. I liked nearly everything about this aside for the main character, Tatyana. Her character didn't make a lot of sense nor did her decisions. This seriously hindered my enjoyment of the movie.

That's certainly not the type of films which you might find similar ones easily. Quite moving but I can't say that I understood her motivation. Did she try to escape him from a Soviet facility in order to save his life (and then probably risking perhaps millions of life outside by contamination and adaptation?) Is it realy rational? Sometimes "conformity" may be a more rational or "ethical" path to follow?

I like the 1980s decaying Soviet Union vibes and the political body horror aspects of it -- an alien that feeds on people's fears, meaning literally prisoners considered "disposable" just left for it to be beheaded and eaten -- but the second half puts me off with some lazy twists and a pretty generic ending -- although cute, in a way.

I liked the majority of the film but the ending did me in pretty bad. I love sci-fi and horror and again, for the most part the movie is good but just the last part doesn't make much sense.

It is so hard to nail a 3rd act, and this film fails miserably at it. Has a very decent first hour but we understand nothing about the motivation of the main character, since none is given, and there's no way you'd but into it. But it is a breath of fresh air to go outside the English speaking world for a decent sci-fi.

That is one surprisingly good movie. Sure, there are some letdowns - motivations fall apart in the third act - but all in all it is very refreshing to see a low-scale, character driven, sci-fi flick.

The Soviet Union in 1983. The spaceman Konstantin is the only survivor of a space mission. He returns to Earth, but as a result brings an alien that has nestled in his body. He ends up in the secret laboratory of the neurophysiologist Tatyana. She tries to help Konstantin.

Liked opening but then lost interest. Maybe if the final moments were the next space mission, or flashbacked to missing moments from first one, hinted at where the creature came from? The opening scene could have suggested that the mission involved something from much further out in space. Twist at ending was just confusing, better if there was no son at all, it was just to manipulate the astronaut.

It's something different. It won't blow you away but the premise and the setting kept me engaged.

It's not game changing, but it entertains. The alien is innovative and the effects are great. Also, it's refreshing to see well mae non-USA sci-fi for once.

Well filmed and great effects but the story is a let down.
