Ashton Kutcher almost kinda acting. Did not see that one coming. Ok-ish first half, horrible second half in which one of the most boring romances this year takes center stage. One awesome moment though: The ending, where the camera lingers for about three or four minutes on a frog having swallowed a mouse! Inspired stuff.

I have been told this film has gotten bad reviews. I didn't need to be told that film reviewers are for the most part idiots. Spread is a mature film, it has something to say, Ashton Kutcher finally manages to convince as a serious actor and even though it's rocky during the third act where it seems to have turned into a completely different film, I'm relatively certain it's done with intent and the end makes up for it somewhat. Not perfect, but very good.

As other reviews suggest, the last third is almost unwatchable it's so bad. I suggest turning it off when it starts to drag...it does not get better. But the first part is rather fun. I (not-so-) secretly enjoy seeing denizens of L.A. portrayed as the shallow, self-involved, users I believe them to be.

Underrated, but not outrageously so. The script is pretty blah, and the (fuckin') leads are weak (Heche doesn't bring much to an already thankless role, and then promptly disappears). But Mackenzie's camera is extraordinary (I'd recommend watching it just for that, even if most of the good stuff is in the first half), and it picks up in the middle as the two con artists butt heads and then engage in an at-first-cute-but-soon-turgid romance. Contains good within, but it's certainly no masterpiece

Maybe it's just me that can't relate to this world or these people at all, but I don't get it. The ending somewhat redeems it, but for most of the movie it's just annoying to watch Kutcher's character being the ultimate asshole to everyone around him.

Better than I expected from Ashton Kutcher and Anne Heche. An interesting examination of the life of a cocky gigolo living off his good looks. Using charm and sex to gain entry to a luxurious life. A story about sex, money, failed dreams, users, and how life's highs can quickly become lows. But mostly this movie is about how love ultimately rules the direction of your life and motivates you to change. Not the ending I expected, but it did seem realistic.

Two different (and entertaining) movies about the same hollow people merged into one.

Literally, no sound track! No production quality in audio recording. It's just plain hard to even hear. But it did have Boobs!

It takes quite some time to get over Kutcher NOT being "Kelso" that by the time you've adjusted, this movie has shifted from an enjoyable sleaze-fest to a rather tedious romance. That said, I've never seen a movie come so close to redemption by a closing shot/end credit sequence.

Very good. Pretty Woman for the 2K era. This isn't another idealization of the hip LA style, but a pretty deep love story. Kutcher is pretty decent as the manipulative gigolo. The movie starts out all fun and light but changes gears midway and the ending is very powerful. Highly recommended.

Well, at least there is no happy ending, but an interesting frog ending instead of a prince kissing the princess...

Didn't read any reviews before watching, thought this was gonna be a pretty generic film but it did surprise. Typical setup, but not the ending I expected, Kutcher isn't so bad at what he does, but this movie screamed him at the beginning. Not exactly the BS fairy tale we are usually told, but that's why I liked it more.

In which a con man meets a con woman and falls in love. I could live without it.
