Generates the supernatural action/comedy formula that Sammo Hung would perfect on 'Spooky Encounters' (1980).

Some cool or just interesting elements to the plot - such as our swindling protagonist who exhibits dubious ethics - but it fails to generate much sympathy and thereby involvement with any one character. Some of the styles are fun, but I ended up feeling disappointed in the finale and that the 'drunken master' didn't get much screentime or action.

Meandering and not really interesting with comedy that mostly missed and went on for too long also all too often the humor was used more than once.

Notable about this movie is it being an early example of a fusion between action and comedy. This clearly paved the way for Jackie Chan movies. The comedy doesn't always work alas, YW doesn't have the great comic timing as Jackie Chan, but at least it wasn't annoying. As can be expected from Chia-Liang Liu (this is only the second directed movie) the action choreography is topnotch. While not being a great comedian, Yue Wong does have the looks, charisma and fighting skills to carry this movie.
