Speedway

William Haines being very William Haines in his last silent film. Obnoxious and full of himself, and that's how he comes across even when he's quite good-hearted in Speedway (1929). As for this Harry Beaumont directed Speedway movie. It's a basic race car story which actually works well. Much due to a fine cast of Anita Page being the sweet girl, Karl Dane being a goof and most of all Ernest Torrence being the real heart of the story.
