Paint me green & grey and hide me behind a bush, but I'm a sucker when it comes to marines shouting GOGOGOGOGOGOGO while faced with aliens or ghosts or other random Cloverfield paradoxes. Spectral has all that, and a tricked-out humvee filled with sassy scientific equipment and powered by semi-coherent technobabble. It does commit the cardinal sin of bringing kids into the mix, because yeah, after listening to my 5-year-old whine all day I want to curl up to 5-year-olds whining on my bigscreen.

A military researcher who doesn't want his work to be used to hurt people. And from that laugh it goes downhill. Apparently, if you reverse the polarity of a camera, you can make a light! Does that work the other way? Can I take photos with a lamp?

spectral is a b-movie with a big budget, by that, i mean the writing is lacking, hastily put together, and bears no scrutiny. yet the movie is filled with good actors and great special effects, it's even downright fun. the most hilarious thing here are the inane gadgets that james badge dale comes up with as if he's some sort of physicist macguyver, "if i just reverse the polarity in a couple electronics, it'll turn this uv camera into a uv light." yeah, guy, that's exactly how that works.

Wonderfully boring. It's biggest strengths are visual fx and set design. The rest is a wash--bad characters with no growth, plot conveniences, aimless direction, nondescript locations, and blandness. The main character spends half the movie wielding a flashlight. As for the rest, well, he's either plugging something in/out or forging advanced weaponry from toaster parts.

This was a really pleasant surprise. Bruce greenwood and Emily Mortimer are solid as per usual. Production values are high, hardware, costumes and environment effects look really expensive, props and effects are Weta. It's well directed and produced, biggest complaint is thst the movie is exposition heavy and plot is not far above a video game, might have paced better as a tv show with multiple reveals across a season and some character development. Perfectly competent, internally consisten

Film bir çok yönden vasatın üzerine çıkamıyor. Tempo düşük hızlanacak sanılıyor ama sürekli düşük buna karşın görsel yönden yeterli diyebiliriz. Ortalama bilim kurgu, vasat konu, neyin nasıl olacağını tahmin etmek basit, MacGyver sahneleri ise çok abartı.

Most mediocre Sci-Fi action you can get probably. The visuals, effects and action scenes are decent, but too unnecessarily militaristic, and almost nothing original in there. A countries decades long technology, being brought down in an hour by a single scientist. Sure..

Hilariously bad. The technobabble is the worst I've seen in a long while, the characters are uninspired clichees and the story doesn't make a lick of sense. Even the CGI is pretty obstrusive.

Good concepts and effects, but the lack of decent characters make it hard to stay invested in. The helicopter scene made it worth it though.

Ghost cgi is always lame- if something doesn't appear to forcefully interact with physical objects then there's no impact to it. Lots of brown everywhere, which fits the bland story, action, and characters.

Perfectly mediocre Netflix Original movie that looks and feels like a SyFy original. Not overtly bad, but boring and very low budget.

It felt like the shell of a good movie that was stuffed with overuse of showing and working on sci-fi tech, forgettable characters, iffy science and an enemy that only attacks when convenient to the plot. Overall it has some cool visual that could have amounted to something but it ends up being more of a waste of potential than anything else.

I presume the mission statement was to make an interesting concept as tedious as possible. So mission accomplished.

Good (not great) Saturday night sci-fi/action (and another genre) movie.Think of Tony Stark (w/out suit) going to help combat team solve strange goings on in a war zone. Interesting premise--the film handles this, and the ending, in a satisfying, although not exceptional, way.

It's got a really good cast, the visual component is exceptional, and the story is good too. It felt off in how it was delivered though. I agree with what dunetails said. This could have/should have been cut up into maybe a six part series and built more on the characters. The end was too convenient for me, none of it came as a surprise and that was disappointing. Still worth a look on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
