Song for a Raggy Boy

Irish Reformatory Schools were famous of their abusing behavior towards children. Basically the movie is good teacher - bad teacher battle. Rough destiny and ultimately tragic movie. Its well done and we do need these movies.

Based on the true story of a Spanish Civil War veteran called William Franklin who returns to Ireland after the death of his Spanish wife to take up teaching at a Catholic Reformatory school for boys. The school is run by sadistic, power-hungry freaks and Franklin finds himself, much as in Spain, having to fight for his morals and principles, defending the boys from the priests. There are quite a few shocking scenes, overall a very good film, with a good story, good actors and a good message

Good show - really shows what a shower of bas**rds the Catholic chuch were.
