Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap

Ice-T loves Ice-T...and iced tea(?).

Kind of a missed opportunity. The Kanye, KRS, Dr. Dre and Mos Def clips are great, but most of the interviews are too short.

The idea behind this is great and a story that should be told but the Documentary as a film fails for couple of reasons, First most of the interviews are way way too short, Second the camera work is garbage, Third only three areas in the US are covered. The film just skims the surface and leaves you wanting more. This should definitely by a mini series, start on the East coast, go North, South, West and then hit the other countries, I mean Hip Hop/Rap is global now.

This could have been better had Ice-T not had anything to do with it.

This is a really interesting documentary. Over 40 rappers give opinions on Hip Hop. Many of the interviews feel really short and leave you wanting more. This would be a great miniseries so more time could be spent with each rapper.

A nice look at rap. Sometimes they stuck the camera in some really weird places, but as a documentary on the art form it's good enough. Talks about what rap means to rappers, gets a good diverse look, because Ice-T talked to a lot of different rappers. Not every "style" is represented but it's a decent job.
