Snow-White

Snow-white gets the Betty Boop treatment and is injected with surreal weirdness. The song is so central here that it is almost like a Cab Calloway music video. To me Calloway is one of the greatest singers that ever lived, so his inclusion gives the already great Betty Boop a big boost.

The first four minutes are forgettable, but when "St. James Infirmary Blues" kicks in... Wow. Deserves the hype, that's for sure.

The St. James Infirmary underworld sequence alone has to earn this full marks.

annoying, to the extent that it doesn't even manage to beat the disney tripe. the blues bit was okay.

Imaginative visuals and an awesome cabaret ditty are the highlights of this sluttier reimagining of the classic fable.

Song was good. So was the dance by ko ko in ghost form.

Utterly bizarre, but that's the best part of it. Cab Calloway's rotoscoped performance as Koko the Clown singing "St. James Infirmary" is a highlight. Be sure to watch the scrolling background behind Koko during this part, there's some truly disturbing and interesting imagery.

I dunno. I could give this movie a full 100 just for the fact it has the best version of St. James Infirmary Blues ever made. But I'll guess it's 90 this time.

This cartoon pretty much encapsulates everything you'd need to know about the difference between Fleisher and Disney, as well as East Coast vs. West Coast animation style. A truly bizarre little acid-trip of a short.
