Padmanabhan Nair (Jayaram), patriarch of the Vadakkedathu family, who had always kept a tight grip on family matters, starts losing his grip after his younger brother Sasi (Biju Menon) turns rebellious in search of good fortune after befriending upstart Sivan (Siddique). Despite being warned about Sivan's dubious ways, Sasi partners Sivan, including marrying off their sister Ammu (Lena) to him.
