The reveal at the end of the third act renders most of the first two acts completely devoid of logic, but it's an entertaining ride to be sure. Naomi Scott gives it everything she has, and her performance does more than enough to make you invested in her as a character. There is perhaps one too many cheap jumpscares, which replaces some of the absolute terror of the first film.

Objectively worse than the first Smile. Naomi Scott is pretty good and there’s a handful of effective scenes here and there. What drags it down is that a decent chunk of the movie is “just a dream”. The Smile Demon also seems to be way too powerful/in control here to a point where I’m left like thinking can the protagonist actually do anything to win here? As a result, most of the movie quite frankly seemed to drag and just felt kinda unnecessary or rehashing things from the first one again.

The first movie was a delightful surprise, but this is a better movie. The scares actually feel earned here, the expanse on world-building is cool (I would have liked more!), the violence/gore is actually scary and VERY graphic, and Finn’s direction is really quite impressive. I loved the cold opening in particular. The climax might be what you’re expecting, but the way there is a creepy great time. It also has a great protagonist, and Scott delivers her best performance to date. Great movie.

Incredible sound design. So many twists and takeouts you can barely keep track of it all, but it works. Lacks some of the scarier moments from the first film. Pop stars as tools for brain washing and violence. Astroworld

Well produced, but not very scary. At times feels like slow-horror, or more like a popstar drama battling her inner demon, which is sort of is, but in a different way. The closing scenes were good, and helped with the overall feel.

I wasn't expecting much after a pretty weak Smile 1, but part 2 is one of the most inventive and entertaining horror movies i've ever seen. It really got me. This is so creepy, so gross. Naomi Scott is on a Florence Pugh-in-Midsommar-level of acting, which is crazy since i've never even heard of her. It's a non-stop spookshow of incredible set pieces, with a well argumented backdrop of the vicious entertainment industry - a setting that lends itself beautifully for this winning concept

Brought to you by Voss. Seriously, that's some Wayne & Garth levels of shameless product placement, without the comedic irony. Hey, whatever gets the movie made. Anyway, I dug this! Apparently I didn't see the first one but this carries over well enough from where it left off, and Naomi Scott put her whole self into this and was the best & most believable part of the movie. The ending I thought was good but doesn't exactly leave anything for the future other than "Smile 3: Post-Apocalypse".

Disturbing visuals and a knockout performance by Naomi Scott propel this horror sequel to something truly frightening. While the ending is not the crowd pleaser that I hoped for, the inclusion of deeper themes like addiction and mental illness means that Smile 2 hits all the right notes.

More or less the same as the first but with a different setting, which is admittedly one of the strong points along with the opening. The lead is still great, the score is still unique and fitting, and Finn has proven to be a very capable director. Also like the first, I have mixed feelings on the ending, and having constant hallucinations in the third act makes it hard to stay invested. I also feel like Gallner was underutilized. The third one might need to change it up a bit.

Production and style -and the star- are a bit better than the first time around, but there's no significant improvement over the original. The ending sticks out too in a good way, and I'm guessing it's setting up some sort of zombie sequel to end a trilogy?

Haven't seen part 1, but was quite surprised by this one. Great camera, good acting and some pretty cool moments. The ending was a bit too much, but recommended nonetheless.

Not very original -- almost like an It Follows spin-off --, but so fun in its wacky expansion of the first film. And better than The Substance in its flashy climax! Bloated specially in the second half, which is totally ok because NS rises above the jump scare fest with such a brilliant hellish performance. First hour or so is really the film's core, day-to-day depiction of pop star spiraling into mayhem as she slowly loses herself -- every xp could be an illusion or a bloody snippet of reality.

Opening scene was great, first half was decent but the second half of the movie gets extremely messy. The main character unfortunately didn't work for me. It's funny how the movie gets hard to follow and yet it's so predictable.

A fiercely committed lead performance and a gonzo style goes a long way in something like this, and it's been great to see some solid mainstream horror sequels this year. A ton of fun.

Smile 2 has a lot of interesting ideas that it flirts with to its near max potential. Visually speaking, it displays a unique gravitas to its cinematography, and in a lot of cases uses it effectively to relay Scott’s character and her excellent performance. It’s hard to imagine the relationship between the two to better than it is here. However, its attempt to branch into real societal ideology is murky at best, as it’s real substance in it’s screenplay feels copped out quite a bit.

There should've been multiple scenes where she has to go to the bathroom from all the Voss ingestion, to add realism.

Though saying that the entertainment industry is hard isn't a new message, I appreciated how aggressive this was with it. That the "demon" makes people smile plays into it exceptionally well, because it reflects what an entertainer always has to do in public. Naomi Scott was powerful here. Watching her unravel was endlessly fascinating. Wasn't that scary and I think it could use some work with creating atmosphere, so it's not one of the great horror films, but I was also never bored.

Parker Finn thinks he's your life coach. Where the first "Smile" wants to be about transference of trauma, this one is cosmetically exactly the same schtick but symbolizing vanity and obsession with success instead. Once again, especially near the end you see good effort from the fx studio, but it's wasted on this cheesy regurgitation and the propensity to preach.

the first movie lacked an explanation of evil and was quite empty at the end, but the second part was absolutely much better because here in the second part there was also some explanation of evil and an alternative fight against it. Naomi Scott is very good in her role and is also in the center of the action throughout the movie. at the end of the day i can say that i liked the second movie better.

While maybe never quite reaching the unexpected surprise of the first one, I do still think this was entirely enjoyable. The first felt more subtle and creepy, and this was a bit more violent and over-the-top, with more jump-scares than I remember in the first, but Naomi Scott gives an excellent performance, and the cinematography and sound-design are great, making the movie constantly tense. It does still feel like the underlying lore and message are left a bit unexplored, like the first.
