*King snorts a huge line* "Okay, you've got this film about "sleepwalkers". Get this? They're mother and son, but they FUCK EACH OTHER! Haha, okay. Now they have powers that don't make much sense. Will I explain it? Hell no! *takes a swig of Jack* Now, their natural enemy? No, not guns. It's cats. A cat scratch will kill them. They can't do anything about the cats. Why yes, the box office WILL double the production costs of this film. I am Stephen fucking King.

I don't know if it is sadder that King wrote this blitzed out of his mind on cough syrup or if he was sober. I was waiting for the gross mother/son thing to be some front but NOPE. Mick Garris is a code name for a sack of flour they prop up in a director chair.

Was there a single studio head that suggested they leave the incest on the cutting room floor? Did Mick Garris have to fight to keep that in, cause it's so integral to the story? Do you go home and expect your children to be proud of you when you spent the day fighting to keep the incest in a movie?

Upon release, much was made about how this was Stephen King's first screenplay not based on one of his previously existing novels. Yet all the problems originate from the story's bad humor, uneven pacing, and nonexistent scares. And the vampire makeup is terrible. Finally, the mother/son incept concept is cringeworthy instead of a sly Oedipal commentary. It also ruins a cool Enya song via constant repetition. Avoid. Unless you need a movie to crack jokes on while watching with your friends.

Yeesh. This gets some points for the very bonny Mädchen Amick. I'm shallow. So what? Anyway, this is otherwise pretty much unwatchable. It's just too daft and poorly executed. Incest and cats and odd horror-related cameos. And Mark Hamill, for some reason.

King adaptations have a rightfully bad rep given their ratio of stinkers & this has to be 1 of the worst. So bad I wondered how King made this story work in a book & discovered it's his first direct-to-movie script. Clearly he thought he could do anything he wanted & tries to make a campy comedy horror hybrid that would stink no matter what, but makes it worse by choosing to not let the audience know it's a comedy for half an hour. Only Amick's beauty & short running time got me to the end.

LOL. So bad. I remember something with corn on the cob. Something with a car that either cloaks itself or changed into other cars (or possibly both) and someone with a hell of a lot of cats hanging off them.

Absolutely terrible in just about every way imaginable. It fails as an adaptation, as a horror movie, and the effects are retarded. The only reason it's not a zero rating is because it is pretty funny to laugh at how wretched it is. The acting is also downright atrocious in most parts.

I must admit I was shocked to find out this came out in ‘92
It certainly has a 80’s look and feel to it
I don’t bother to read Stephen King novels because the movies based on the books I have seen are usually completely opposite of the novels they were based on
All I can say is this is one of the weirder King based adaptations But if for nothing else
It’s fun to watch for all the horror cameo’s

Let's be frank: most horror film adaptations of King are lousy because King himself is a fairly mediocre writer. The idea that somehow almost every director has managed to 'misinterpret' his work over 4 decades just isn't plausible. It's true that many directors miss his gallows humour, but Sleepwalkers, based on an original screenplay by King, does not, and it's hardly an improvement on what came before or after. The acting is lousy (except for Krige) and the effects are too.

Weird monsters, weirder relationships (avoiding spoilers here) , and heroic kitty-cats. This is a fun movie

It wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. Sure, it's got some weird stuff happening that makes no sense (like killing someone with a corn cob, or cars exploding when you shoot them once through the windshield) but for all the cheese it's still a fairly entertaining watch. Also Clovis the Cat is a goddamn hero.

Not to be taken seriously (duh). Mostly fun despite the deaths of many kitties and a creepy mother and son relationship.

Bit of a train wreck with a good enough helping of outrageous bollocks to stay invested.

There's one really awesome fx shot (it involves a windshield), but other than that this movie is pretty awful.

This movie is good because it's funny, irreverent, and pretty stupid. Stephen King is the worst screen play writter in the nation.
