The town of Buttonhole Bend is in the clutches of the Butcher Baer (Max Baer) gang who have killed every sheriff and robbed every bank in the territory. The brains behind the gang is saloon owner Square Deal Sal. Skipalong Rosenbloom comes to town and is tricked into becoming the sheriff. He falls in love with Miss Caroline Witherspoon, the town schoolmar'm. Skipalong finally corners Butcher in Square Deal Sal's saloon, beats him up and corrals the rest of the gang.

What better way to spoof poverty row westerns that looks like it could've been directed by infamous hack Sam Newfield, than have Sam Newfield direct this awkward western parody. And to tell you how camp this was, they had Maxie be a singing cowboy! To add to the humor they have former boxers Maxie Rosenbloom and Max Baer fight it out over a poker game! Those two should never wear cowboy outfits ever again! Pure fanservice for those of us that love watching these terrible old oaters!
