Gone is the hope and optimism of Smoke Signals and what is left is what life gives you as an indigenous person (hint: it's shit). This is a film of pure rage and the beauty that comes with it. It's about the destruction of family/the destruction of a people. The Wounded Knee conversation at the dinner table is as brutal as it is poignant. Nice little ending tho and although the shadows of white monuments linger over us forever we can try to find solace in small acts of resistance.

This is an angry film. Yes, it's rough around the edges with some some questionable plot pieces and some weak acting performances, but the passion of the film making makes it easy to forgive those mistakes. The real life footage spliced into the film was a great way to start. The opposite side of his last film Smoke Signals, which wasnt exactly happy, but it was more of an optimistic film. This one really shows the struggle that many native tribes have to deal with.

An angry and passionate film, but there are a number of missteps that hurt it.
