A wealthy cosmetic tycoon and her 12-year-old daughter who's dying from leukemia, strike up a sentimental friendship with a California politician. Since the girl has only six weeks or less to live, the trio fly to New York City where the daughter skates the ice rink at Rockefeller Center, assumes the lead in The Nutcracker ballet, and sightsees most of the city. I watched this again, because I found out that Dudley Moore wrote and played the film's score. It was beautiful music. This is an emotional and unique story. It appears the child star was selected in addition to being a good actress, that she was already skilled at ballet. Dramatic role for Dudley Moore as well, very little comedy here.
