An exhibit more than a film, experimenting with a mix of mediums. Perhaps it is some sort of pure distillation of the themes that would come to encapsulate David Lynch's work: of immense internal pressures bubbling to the surface, and rupturing into monstrous form.

To call this a short film is stretching the definition a little bit. This is David Lynch's first film project. Originally meant to be an art project, Lynch wanted his painting to "move", he has six figures almost etch-a-sketch'ed into the painting, their stomachs fill up and they vomit down the screen. I loved it. I liked how creepy the whole thing looked and I especially liked how the police siren plays in the background. I'm pretty sure Silent Hill stole the idea of the siren from this film.

Annoying isn't the right word, but it's the first that comes to mind.

Worth seeing if you love Lynch but the title basically tells everything that is going to happen.

This would probably be interesting to see in its proper presentation, but as a very short film it doesn't really serve much purpose. A curiosity, not much else.

Lynch's first film project, played in repetition, was used as part of a multi-media art exhibit rather than being intended as an actual short movie. As with his later forays into experimental short film, it is still quite interesting in and of itself.

Good collage, but it doesn't quite work narratively as video art. Either way, always good to see where and how started -- so weirdly, of course! -- the unique career of our beloved David Lynch.

This complex short film represents the beginning of some of the greatest cinematic and episodic art we will ever see.

$200 budget in 1966. Just about $400 per gag loop today when adjusted for inflation ;-)

I can't help but think if I was a classmate of David Lynch during his experimental period, I would have just stayed far away from him.

I guess i should have seen it in a gallery to fully appreciate it but even then i wouldn't appreciate going to a gallery full of this sort of thing. Its creepyb and kind of awesome, but repeats in the same way as someone trying to tell you the same joke repeatedly bc they find themselves to be hilarious for telling it

One of those productions, which are supposed to be marvellous and praised by everyone, but in your mind you're really thinking "What the f*ck was that?!".
So... yeah, boring. I wanted to skip the half, and it's only four minutes long. Speaks for itself. In addition, the sound's pretty annoying.

This is more like a 40 second film repeated six times. More like a slideshow of drawings than a film, this minor work has a nice odd charm to it. Watching it, I felt like I was witnessing the birth of the "David Lynch weirdness". Quite a uniquely strange mind, and this is how it all started.

Though the repetition can get a tad boring, it's interesting to see where Lynch started, and while I won't pretend to understand exactly what he was trying to say, I saw a good review somewhere that shed a little light on what it could mean. The rather simple animation and the siren work together well to create something bizarre that almost makes you forget that you're watching six figures getting sick six times.

Well, it grew on me. And it's more comprehensible than many of Lynch's next films.

The main idea of "Six Figures Getting Sick" aka "Six Men Getting Sick (Six Times)" is evident from the title. It is indeed a film where six figures (six men) vomit over and over again in "artsy" ways. It can be slightly funny now and then but it's mostly just obnoxious, and the siren that wails throughout makes things even worse. I have no idea why Lynch thought this idea would make a good film (maybe he didn't think so either), all I know is that once would have been more than enough.

After about the third or fourth time, we get it. But still, the paintings look great, the sound effects are menacing, and I love what Lynch once said about wanting to see his paintings move after a wind blew one of his. And that's what films are.

Can't really rate this as a film, though it does appear to represent Lynch's metamorphosis from being a painter to being a filmmaker.

For a first project, it's not bad. Definitely odd and shows early signs of Lynch's obsession with human disease.
