A ten year old boy gets smoked by a truck and shakes it off; I stub my toe and I'm in tears crying to the heavens to make it stop.

Takes all the good ideas and scary moments of the first movie, and makes them worse instead of cashing in on the potential. For facing a nearly omnipotent Babylonian deity, the family makes out okay. They just lose an abusive husband and the less-good son. I wouldn't worry too much about the Deputy at the end; Bughuul jumped out at pretty much everyone during the movie and nothing happened to them.

Could have been a whole lot better with a couple more scenes. Some stuff just didn't make sense, like how did Zach get his family up on the crosses? Wasn't really scary. The few scary bits didn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the movie other than to put something scary in.

Everything that made the first one scary was done away with in favor of a convoluted family divorce plotline and some lifetime channel single mom drama. If this doesn't sound dull enough the goofy cop from the first is one of the main characters. There are a few jump scares and some of that obligatory creepy home footage that's become the anchor for this franchise. The scares and suspense are predictable jump scares.

Some mind exploding dumbness in the last half, like 'Hey, a kid with a knife, should we drive away in the car or run through the dark corn field??'

Sinister 2 is a cynical cash-grab sequel of a horror movie that exists simply because the first film made money. There's no ambition to tell a good story, there's little attempt to actually scare the audience, and there's a lot of potential that's missed because nobody seemed to care about the film they were making. It's filled with jump startles, bad acting, and very little that's worthwhile. While not the worst horror movie of the year, it's a contender.

I heard it was bad but I had to see for myself. It misses all the marks from the first one, and is profoundly boring in itself anyway. Even if this had been a standalone "creepy kids" movie, it would be among the worst. The characters were dumb and made bad decisions all the time, and the monsters are basically schoolyard weirdoes.

Honestly, what the hell is this bullshit? I remember I did like the first movie, but this one just takes the concept of it and runs around with it while having a case of diarrhea. You can tell something is wrong with a horror movie when for the briefest of times the most interesting thing about the movie is the drama between the abusive husband and the wife. That last jump scare was so laughable that I wanted to hit myself in the face.

I didn't think it was as bad as a lot of said, but it was pretty dull and all of the characters were one-dimensional. Scary? No. Too Long? Yes.

A total waste of time, much worse than the first movie, which was kinda meh to begin with.

I think Sinister 2 is slightly underrated. The story is fresh without straying too far from the world created in the original. The images shown on the super 8 were disturbing. James Ransone must have been inspired from Jake Gyllenhaall in Prisoners because the character he portrayed was similar. I had low expectations going in, and they were exceeded.

Incoherent inanities elaborated by children who can barely read off cue cards. Cheap, spastic, drivel. The music is alright!

Definitely an improvement on the first instalment. Carrying on with the strong aesthetics and impressively eerie soundscapes, Sinister 2 lacks the wishy-washy, boring tendencies of Sinister's storyline, and the characters are some you can actually sympathize with and be interested by.

I am well pass that point, where I expect horror movies to evolve the story line. So... Buguul was actually once an abused child, who wanted to create a family of his own and be the father figure he never had, but instead he failed, so he became both the victim and executioner, aka the evil spirit condemning others to his sins. Whew. Can we please have a horror movie that elaborates on that or at least a mini movie where the characters explain everything to the authorities?

Kids forced by ghosts into repeatedly watching Faces of death (while the movie simultaneously forces you into doing the same thing), then one kid turns evil. I like the characters, but fuck this movie.

Sinister 2 is quite bad, but I think it's worst sin is disappointment when compared to the first. Upsides, include a creepy score and the charm of the police officer from the first, but really its a continuation of everything I didn't like about the first. Bughuul is not a franchise monster, the kids are a horrible detraction from atmospheric horror, and the drama is a bit too much.

Just another generic boogeyman/supernatural force horror movie. The story in this one was very formulaic, but, like, incompetently formulaic? If that makes any sense. Whatever - it wasn't very good anyway. I was totally bored for the majority of the film. The bland characters, 'creepy' ghost children, weird custody battle subplot, and predictable jump scares just didn't do anything for me. Go figure.

More a mess then scary. The story felt like it got lost in all the montages and mini films put in there. Cool to have a little Norwegian shout-out in there.

a big step down from the far superior Sinister. The film is acted not badly but not greatly but is pretty scary. The film doesn't really add anything new to the Sinister universe which a sequel should always do. The story is sloppy and a lot is expected of the audience. Some may even call this film out of order for trying to entertain audiences by showing them different gruesome ways that people can be murdered. I am disappointed with this film as it certainly wasn't Sinister, it was just ok.

Instead, it feels exactly like the kind of "exploitation" Derrickson was criticizing. From the point at which the Catholic priest argues that we're impotent to confront evil--that the best we can do is run from it--things go downhill fast. And they end with utter despair. There's not a thing anyone can do about anything bad that's happening as we watch family after family being murdered--by children--in some of the most mind-boggling atrocious ways imaginable. A surprisingly funny Children of the Corn parody. With worse acting.
