Too close to home for me as I had a creepy roommate that went to bizarre lengths to try and mimic my look and style. I wasn't rid of him until I finally blew up and told him, "Take your stupid bag of props and your outrageously red hair and go tell your painfully lame jokes elsewhere!"

Lesbians are just insane and they'll kill your puppy, I guess. Pretty dumb movie.

An entertaining romp. Although, I am not sure how believable this film is -- two people saw that haircut and said "this looks good"?

You can see the profound character study getting away at every point of the movie. What remains is decorative: great apartments, well lit faces. And Schroeder just isn't enough of a mad stylist (like DePalma or Argento are) to succeed at pure trash.

Probably even the writer must have gotten really bored after some point.

Silly and should be terrible but Fonda and Leigh actually made this more enjoyable than it should have been.

It's silly but I love it so much, because it's so pointless & crazy but it totally happens.

Passable but wholly unremarkable thriller highlighted by a solid unhinged performance by Leigh as the roommate from hell. It was mildly enjoyable while watching it, but it's the kind of film I've already forgotten a lot of hours later. Probably better than it has any right to be.

I'm just glad I watched this after my roommate days are over. It's not a bad thriller, but there's nothing really impressive about it either, and a lot of it feels quite familiar. It's kind of a B-style movie dressed up a little with the two powerful leads.

Jennifer Jason Leigh is the best. Except when she is the worst, like here. Early 90s sex-thriller with two outstanding leads.

A decent 90's thriller with an insane- somewhat uncomfortable, even- amount of gratuitous nudity from both leads, if that's your jam, but also with a damn good performance from Jennifer Jason Leigh that frankly the material didn't deserve. For being almost two hours it moves along pretty fast, & there are some clever things about it, but the story is pretty silly & the final act goes full-blown camp for better and worse. It isn't great, but it is entertaining enough despite the flaws it has.

Disappointing slasher effort from Schroeder has its own identity crisis - is it a lurid shocker or a more sensitive portrait of Leigh's damaged and dangerous soul? By trying to be both, it satisfies as neither, with excellent performances competing with a stifling, self-serious tone for the first two acts; when it finally lets rip at the finale, it's already too little, too late. Still kind of interesting as a footnote as to what happens when a respectable director tries to mould some trash!

Booooooooooooring. A true overly dramatic 90's movie with some good music (but the rest is pretty lame)

Inmensely enjoyable (specially during the last act, I mean, how many plot devices can make a comeback to be used as killing weapons?!) and featuring interesting references from Bergman's Persona and, of course, Hitchcock's Vertigo... with a trashy twist!

Campy, reasonably suspenseful fun. All the struggling between the two female leads that comprises the last part of the movie becomes a LOT more fun if you imagine them covered in Wesson oil!

Weak climax. Most of the scenes, action, plot, seemed to be created for convenience (or worse just to follow tradition-cliche) rather than logical actions of real people.

Probably my favorite domestic thriller. Great script, with twists in all the right places. Bridget Fonda is perfect, and Jennifer Jason Leigh plays creepy to a T.

When this movie first came out it was very well received and considered a masterful suspense movie. However, it was still lacking in the category of acting which is why it is not still considered a film legend. The movie is full of suspense and eerieness and makes any woman reconsider bringing in a roommate. The elements that take place in the film are well put together and make for a great suspense movie. The acting is second rate, but still makes this movie a must-see.

I can't really pinpoint anything particularly different about it, but everything here is just a bit different, and it adds up to greater authenticity. SWF is one of the better thrillers of its era, and boasts great acting from the leads.
