Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger

"Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger" struggles with a lackluster storyline and less-than-stellar performances from its cast. The film's saving grace lies in its captivating stop-motion monsters. Aside from that, the special effects largely rely on less engaging techniques like flashing colors and eye close-ups, which don't quite measure up.

Wooden lead? Check. Impractically dressed women? Check. Harryhausen stop motion monsters? Check. Vaguely interesting story? Nope, no, nah. Just kinda dull.

Fun enough movie, yet this one isn't as good as the two others in the series.

In the end it probably stands as better than Golden Voyage. Although most of it feels on par with it. Yet another Docto Who alum - Patrick Troughton - carries with the best performance in the film. Harryhausen's effects are still amazing to behold and Margaret Whiting's gloriously over-the-top villainous role results in non-stop fun.

This is one of the lesser Sinbad movies that have made over the years, even Harryhausen himself has worked on better Sinbad movies. I'd look elsewhere if you want to watch a fantasy/adventure flick.

Of course the Harryhausen stuff is great; but the script is nowhere near as good as THE GOLDEN VOYAGE, the picture is WAY overlong, the characters dull and Wayne is a complete washout in the title role. Even the great Patrick Troughton can't save this thing.
