A well-made little melodrama off the Warner Bros lot. Aline MacMahon is a aging fur coat maker that takes in a jobless younger sailor Paul Kelly. A sailor is hard to tame, but MacMahon still loves him and tries to make the marriage work. Side Streets is a economical production, but it's made so simple, so effective and with touching performances that it pushes all the right buttons.
