Even as a kid, the first movie's sugary-sweetness annoyed me. This one's a lot more fun, with Michael McKean injecting some much-needed cynicism into the proceedings. Seeing Johnny 5 go into full-on revenge mode towards the end was pretty sweet. LOS LOCOS KICK YOUR BALLS INTO OU-TER SPAAAAACE!

Kinda fluffy, but the tragic near-death experience for Johnny 5, and subsequent revenge rampage, were actually really enjoyable to me as a kid. The movie as a whole works as a sequel, even if it falls a bit short of the original.

Johnny Five is not only still alive, but he's back with a whopping 500 megabytes of storage! Unfortunately, that wont even hold a pirated copy of this second-rate Home Alone clone (if Home Alone was made two years earlier) starring only one character from the first film (the most annoying) and somehow disturbingly dripping with robot-themed sexual innuendo.

Possibly the only time in history one could truthfully say " This film really could have used some Guttenberg".

Oh, nostalgia! How many points are you worth? Probably most of the 50 points I'm giving Short Circuit 2...

Fun, light-hearted adventure that will always have a place in my heart. Probably a slight improvement on the original Short Circuit, it does manage once again to make us care about the fate of this silly self-aware robot. To be fair there's little to knock here, but unfortunately - bar Johnny Five himself - there's not much to make it stand out from the late-'80s crowd either.

One of those great moments as I was a child, not so funny like the first one but uses still his potencial to make me laugh. Compared to those horrible "I want to be funny with gags about farts and tits" Movies, great.

A few good moments here and there, but at least this isn't just a re-tread of the original storyline.

I was actually very annoyed by the first movie, and this was much more fun. McKean was much better at arguing with Johnny Five, and c'mon - LOS LOBOS KICK YOUR ASS!

The big problem is that Johnny Five is just not an appealing enough robot to build a franchise around (though he is less creepy this time), and as the crux of this plot depends on his kidnapping and exploitation by a tired Weston and his gang, there’s not a great deal here to invest in (with Stevens reduced even further to a borderline tasteless stereotype). Perhaps notable as the rare film where McKean enters as a chief sleaze and doesn’t end up revealed as the villain!

So wait, Ben is studying to be an American citizen despite the fact that he claimed to be from Pittsburgh in the 1st movie, and held a job for a defense contractor that obviously required a very high security clearance. Yeah, seems legit.

You know a sequel is in trouble when the only actor who returns from the original is the third-billed comic relief (_Gone with the Wind II_ with Butterfly McQueen would be better), with Stevens as the cliched malaprop-spouting Hindu. Gibb is the unlikely love interest in this overlong and underdeveloped followup that's not terrible but just terribly unimaginative.

What the hell? They take the most annoying character from the first and give him his own movie. The equivalent of making Jar Jar Binks the star of Attack of the Clones.

Nowhere near as good as the first one, which was quite poor to begin with. Nevertheless, I loved this film and its predecessor as a kid and, let's face it, Short Circuit was never really aimed at folks who Tivo "Inside the Actor's Studio", but rather at children of all ages.

Johnny Five is the most lovable robot of all time. With a comedic indian like person that isnt meant to be comedic but ya know. The accent. Johny Five really brings out the meaning of "being alive" in the heart warming film.

I recently caught this on television, and man, was it bad. I liked the first Short Circuit, but why would they make this film if they didn't have Guttenberg or Sheedy involved. Even Speed 2: Cruise Control had Bullock in it. Points for childhood memories.

One Johnny-5 movie was enough. This movie was completely unnecessary, but completely unnecessary is often good enough to get greenlit in Hollywood.
