I was always under the impression that Craven left the Nightmare On Elm Street series because it had been turned into such a joke But then he did Shocker which is very similar to Nightmare but not nearly as good and the jokes were worse Seriously Craven WTF ? Wildest scenes chasing each other through old tv shows

Occasionally funny, with Craven's usual good use of special effects, but also too heavy handed and yet so crazy. Synthesis of the auteur's career with signature nigthmare sequences and plot about destruction of the family. Young college football star battles his slasher dad through TV with psychic powers - the kid is even attacked by his relaxing chair, they come in and out of screens, he eventually ends by jumping into a camera. In a way, a weird film about father and son trying to reconnect.

I guess there are really only a couple of things to know about "Shocker" - one, the villain's name is Pinker and two, the movie is a stinker. Maybe I have that backwards. Sorry, nothing clever to see here.

A great big piece of shit but there is some campy humor value to it. Not much though.

Utterly forgettable horror trash about a psychotic criminal who somehow gains immortality and the ability to transfer his consciousness from one person to another after being fried in the electric chair. I actually saw this piece of junk during its original theatrical run. I feel really old now.

Interesting premise, but the dialogues and most of the plot decisions really ruined it for me. I'd say it's action packed with great soundtrack, but at its core... it is just bad and absurd in the worst ways.

Em honra dos 30 anos de lançamento. Jesus Fucking Christ. Quando o Craven sentou para escrever isso deve ter pensado consigo: "Estou prestes a escrever as coisas mais ridículas já pensadas pelo homem." Bom trabalho, Wes. BlurayRip RARBG.

+1 for an early career appearance by Mitch Pileggi in a decidedly non-Walter Skinner role and -1 for the casting of John Tesh in a decidedly John Tesh role.

Shocker was Craven's failed attempt to create another successful horror franchise, and until Cursed showed up it was arguably his worst film too. It's much easier now to appreciate the film's goofy charm, but the tonal fluctuations are so extreme that it often plays like an unintentional parody. Once characters start leaping through TV screens, it jumps the shark entirely. Pileggi is fine as Pinker, but it's difficult to see how Craven saw franchise potential here.

I'll say this. This movie has so much working against it given the timing, genre, plot (on paper), and a multitude of other things that should make this movie suck...but it pulls it off. Damn it, this movie pulls it off.

SO WEIRD--seriously, it doesn't make a lick of sense but it's got some kind of anarchistic charge (ahem) to it that makes it watchable.

One of my guilty pleasure horror movies. I have a soft spot for '80s movies and B-horror movies, so this is like a perfect storm for me. It's a corny concept and the acting and writing are hokey, but hey, give it a watch.
