Elizabeth Moss is great in whatever this is.

Moss and Stuhlbarg are awesome actors, but Decker's drama doesn't amount to much more than an exercise with some really stylish closeups.

It has some good ideas, but I was either bored or confused pretty much the whole run time.

Can we build Elisabeth Moss her statue finally? I mean what a masterful meditation on creativity (do we need to suffer to create?), feminism (is Shirley freeing or dooming the other woman?), power ("I found it... derivate") and so much more. While presented with such a lust for originality! What a blast!

Encontrei esse filme na seção de horror, mais por se tratar de um filme sobre um ícone do horror, mas também é condizente com o horror de ser mulher e escritora. Gosto muito de cinebios que seguem a veia da ficção histórica entremeando autor e obra, por isso gosto tanto das cinebios do Ken Russell, por isso gosto tanto de Rocketman e Shirley. Infelizmente ainda não li O homem da forca, tenho certeza que só melhoraria a experiência de ver esse filme. GP

A conflicted movie about the creative process of an agoraphobic madwoman of a writer. I found it strangely absorbing and unique, yet slow, abrasive, and hateful at times.

İlginç 1 film. Korku hikayeleri yazan Shirley, ünlü profesör eşiyle yalnız yaşar. Yanlarına 2 adet öğretmen gelince, herkesin hayatı değişir. Çünkü, Shirley çılgın 1 kadındır. İlk 15 dakikası iyi ilerleyen film, ortalara doğru aksıyor. Logan Lerman dahil çok iyi oyunculukların olduğu film, biyografi klişelerine sırtını yaslıyor. Yine de farklı 1 film. Filmin sonunda, hepsi benim aklımda. İkiye kadar say bebeğim.

Elisabeth Moss and Odessa Young act the hell out of a screenplay that is just at times, too smart for its own good. While its great to watch their performances, the slow burn that is Shirley gets a little lost in itself. Unclear presentation really hurts what its going for. The score is one of my favorites of 2020

An annoying hipster vanity project.

I admire how un-biopic-y this is and the performances and cinematography are great but it wasn’t quite as gripping as I was hoping. Does make me want to watch more by Decker, though.

Moss was great, playing a challenging character effectively and not overblowing it. The rest of the movie was interesting but not really what I expected. I think I expected a little more in the suspense/thriller genre and it didn't really deliver there. It was a little strange but it didn't lose sight of what it wanted to say. Good movie, not quite great... a significantly lesser movie without Moss though.
