Shin josei mondo

Not really a story for me. While it deals a little bit with the stigma of geisha work (what Japanese movie doesn't?), the rest is rather pedestrian. Yasushi Sasaki does do a good job of presenting a easy to digest story with enough personality given to its characters. Didn't need to be that long, but fans of Japanese cinema will feel right at home.

A solid, if slightly unremarkable family drama that actually turns out alright.
