How does this have anything to do with Sherlock Holmes?

An underwhelming little stop-trick short from the initial rash of Méliès imitations. Also, the earliest film to capitalize on the popularity of Sherlock Holmes. The character had been around for 13 years, and Arthur Conan Doyle had another 27 years' worth of stories to go at this point--somehow, I doubt this was officially licensed.
