Sherlock Holmes

One of the better Asylum mockbusters with a relatively original story. Syder is miscast as Sherlock but mustached pre-buff Chris Pratt is a good Watson and knockoff Gary Oldman as a steampunk villain really take this movie for a ride. Not to mention fembots. Seriously, this wasn't terrible. Air chase could have been shortened. Fav scene: flying dragon blasting fire over Big Ben and you're telling me nobody remembers this incident?

It's an Asylum production, so anyone familiar with The Asylum, you can easily deduce (pun intended) that this movie will be bad to the point of lobotomization. Upon bracing myself for a terrible movie, someone decides to whip out the evil robot brother who attempts to kill the queen while riding a robot dragon, as if Sherlock Holmes needed embellishment in the first place.

One of The Asylum's best. Their film includes all the things needed to make a good Holmes movie that Guy Ritchie's 08 adaption was missing, such as dinosaurs, giant squids, mecha-dragons, high tech hot air balloons and Iron Man!

I couldn't make it past 20 minutes. Based on those, I would rate it less than 60, but just in case the rest isn't as bad... Note, my problem isn't the mixing of monster mythos with Holmes. I can imagine this being done well, but, based on the 20 minutes, just about everything about the film is terrible - acting, pointless dialogue pointless sequences - 2 literal cliffhangers in just the first 20 minutes, and they were both completely uninteresting and unexeciting.

There's a style to Asylum rip-offs that I can't get past that invades the acting, direction, lighting, script, production of the film and makes them all unwatchable

I do not understand why every Asylum movie I see is systematically underrated and this garbage has so many good ratings.

Seems like a pretty reasonable and faithful Holmes adaptation until the dinosaurs and dragons make their appearance! This is flagrantly silly and anachronistic stuff but pulled off with an appropriate twinkle in its eye; if you can meet it half way as a disposable "Friday Night TV" entry, it does the job well enough, with David-Lloyd and Syder (channeling David Tennant?) a fun Watson-Holmes duo.
