A little bit better than the first Shep movie - My Dog Shep (1946) - but it's still a very small family picture that wasn't going to put Shep's name up there with Lassie or Rin Tin-Tin. No surprise this became the second and last film about Shep. Flame, the dog, had more success as Rusty in those movies.
