In his time Rajaram Vankudre Shantaram was definitely one of the best directors in India. And Shejari (1941) is his best one yet! The construction is absolutely brilliant a lot of the time! Comical drama about two village seniors of different religions showing their friendship being challenged by local happenings surrounding a dam. The film is long so there are periods where things are a little too conventional, but when the two old men clash it's genius work at play!
