It's a good reminder of what happened and would be a good introduction to the topic if you've been living under a rock for the last 10 years or so, but this was ultimately a little too straightforward for me. Not nearly as good as All The President's Men or Spotlight--more in the vein of The Post as a second tier journalism film. It's fine and everything, it just is more or less a blow by blow recitation of the facts with little added. The screenplay forces some somewhat wooden acting as well.

It's not a bad movie, it's just dry and perfunctory. It's another one of those "Journalism: The Movie" type movies in the vein of something like All The President's Men or Spotlight, except not anywhere near as compelling. The movie just sort of marches towards an inevitable conclusion and then its over. Mulligan and Kazan work well as leads, and the supporting cast is filled out nicely. Again, there's nothing terribly wrong with the movie. It just feels kinda rote and unspecial.

Journalistic procedural about how the Harvey Weinstein story was investigated, about on par with Spotlight. Honestly contains no big mystery or any shocking revelations. Dialogue is rudimentary, emotions are what's to be expected, and unless you're a terrible person you always know whose side you're on, so there's no challenge or insight here either. With all that said, it's pretty watchable for the payoffs in the form of somebody calling and saying she'll go on record.

This is a film I really liked while simultaneously thinking it was a fairly average film. Part of the issue is that it's inevitably going to remind you of "All the President's Men" and it's not completely up to the comparison. Really though ... I found the subject matter to be really compelling and both lead performances are very good, so ... I can ignore the fact that it frequently leans a bit too much on exposition dumps.

As I said with movies like "Spotlight", watching journalists get the scoop is hard to make interesting, regardless of how interesting or important the actual story is.

Good performances. Tough watch, but necessary. Mulligan and Kazan were great. 7.3. I'm hearing many compare it to a tepid Spotlight, and I agree it's not on that level but still thought the execution of this story was better than most.

This is a very sobering and thought provoking watch about an important issue of our time - some gritty social commentary for sure, about the Weinstein scandal and how men (mainly Harvey in this context, of course) have taken advantage of women in the 'Hollywood' industry. It's quite disturbing, some of the details - it reminded me of documentaries I've seen about the same issue and person. I thought the cast did pretty well and Carey Mulligan gives a particularly good performance, in my opinion.

Could best be described as Spotlight-Lite. It wants to be interesting, it has the depth of a deep story that should engrossing, but it has no bite at all. It just plods along for what seems to be a very long time. A story as huge as this should grab you from the get go. Instead you just sit there and wallow in the mire of Weinstein's reckless disregard and depravity towards women. I'm ever so glad he's rotting in prison, although true justice would be to allow someone to Lorena Bobbitt him.

With every passing "whistle-blower" prestige pic, Spotlight feels more and more miraculous in how it achieves such a deft blend of information, dramatic heft, and nuanced character work without feeling like an assemblage of Wikipedia articles.

The trump's and harvey's of this world (yes non-capitalized) and all the people who empower such scum, here is a slap for you in the face. Investigative journalism at its finest. Modern-day brave souls these women. This one is for the story. Although the film itself was also good.

An interesting story that is somehow told in a bland way. Doesn't take any risks to the point that it is a pretty simple retelling of events. However, the story is strong enough that this makes for a watchable movie.

OK !

“She Said” is an honest and respectful film that tackles a sensitive subject matter with solid performances and an effective portrayal of the power of investigative journalism. Despite its struggles with pacing and character arcs, the film remains a vital telling that continues to have an impact across the world to this day.

An important and well-made movie in a Spotlightesque manner, but it's missing something. Is all this too fresh in our memories? Is the movie not focused enough? Is it that Weinstein isn't as powerful a journalistic enemy as the Catholic Church? I don't know. That being said it's definitely worth a watch (Ehle and Morton have some short but laudable performances)

Not as riveting as "All the President's Men" or "Spotlight" but the performances by Mulligan, Kazan and Ehle are top-notch.

Well-intentioned drama follows in the footsteps of ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN; unfortunately the source material doesn't lend itself naturally to dramatisation, resulting in a stodgy, sometimes sleepy recitation of the facts of the case. May have worked even better as a flat out documentary, because the film seems to have little interest in fleshing out any of its characters. Odd mix of voice actors and celebrity cameos is also disorienting, with Paltrow's appearance especially goofy and unneeded.

Crafted with sensitivity and respect for its subjects and led by two simple but effective performances. Well paced and carefully considered, it doesn’t sell itself out to style or drama; it’s as good as a narrative film based on investigative journalism can be: effectively, a documentary made to reach a wider audience.

Its series of one-to-one recollections, confessions, and interviews start to resemble a docu more than drama - connecting scenes of individual victims do nothing but prepare the next Weinstein horror. So Schrader works economically: she reports the case in clean mid-to-wide shots of modern New York. Great faces in bit roles help put the seriousness and cinematic value across. You get what you always get in journalistic films like these, but it might be to the film's credit that it's not more.

This is a solid enough film about journalists working doggedly to uncover the truth which has been done plenty of times before. This may be less impactful because it is such recent history and everyone knows the outcome, so there is very little tension just a sense of inevitability. The working relationship between the 2 female journalists was very well portrayed.
