Good! Based on a true story, it really builds up nicely. Peter Sarsgaard is really good as the editor in chief, slowly discovering just how deep the rabbit hole is, but the true tragedy is Christensen. He can really act, so why the hell did he make such a lousy jedi?!

A solid story that holds your attention, but not particularly memorable. Sarsgaard is a standout as usual, also Christensen surprises by showing he's not completely useless.

I was impressed with how tolerable it was to watch this slow train wreck unfold as the walls around Hayden Christenesen close in tighter and tighter. You can't help but cry out for him to tell the truth, just finally tell the truth but it's all in vain. He will never admit Harrison Bergeron is his best movie.

Shattered glass is a tight and breezy journalistic ensemble thriller. To that point there's nothing really special about it. It's just really well made. I'd say it's very much on par with something like Spotlight. Not as good as All The President's Men, or State of Play, but better than The Post or She Said. If you're looking for that sort of mid-budget movie they don't really make anymore this would be a very solid choice.

Good film from serious matter. Sadly journalism has not learned a bit from late 2 decades. Vice versa mass media is full of lies and its capable to destroy lives and even nations. Ironically, movie is based on article. But it is very well made.

While Glass himself isn’t a genius mastermind (resulting in generally unexciting moves on his part), the story is pretty interesting, and the dynamic between him, his boss and his co-workers has just enough tension. Christensen is actually much better here than he was in Star Wars, perhaps due to the script. This also might be the best performance I’ve seen from Sarsgaard, maybe even worth an oscar nomination. The film is also quite relevant in today’s political climate.

Not only was Sarsgaard robbed of a nomination, he should have won the Oscar, flat out.

It's certainly not a work of cinematic genius, at best you could call it "solid". I just love watching Glass getting destroyed by his own lies, squirming as he gets called on his bullshit.

Gripping, if low-key, account of a young reporter with a penchant for making up his stories, and the trouble this causes; a tight, taut film, with terrific performances, especially Sarsgaard, who's riveting as the editor who gradually realizes the truth.

bu hikayenin iyi bir süreli yayın yazısı olmak yerine görselleştirilmeye ihtiyaç duyulması belki glass'ın neyi fark edip ona oynamış olduğunu göstermesi açısından ironik. fakat "renklilik" arayışı ötesinde bir probleme değindiğini, memlekette bu tema üzerine onlarca sezonluk yerli dizi çıkaracak malzeme olmasından anlayabiliriz herhalde.

Has a terrible (!) first act, but the quality skyrockets later on, but still has a whiny performance that somehow remains sympathetic. While not the flashiest film out there, it still is actually really interesting while keeping very bare bones.

W4E1P2S1V1M1A2R3. Would be fascinating to rewatch in today's fake news climate, as a great refresher on how printing fiction as fact used to be a movie-worthy mortal sin. Agree with some that it has to stretch a little to be a feature length film, but it's a very well framed and engaging story.

As a journalist, I can say that most of what's depicted in this movie is mostly true but exaggerated. that said though, I feel like the lead actor was really unconvincing. The movie would have me believe he's suppose to be this charismatic and charming guy, but he came off as more awkward and juvenile. On the plus side though, Sarsgaard was fantastic as Chuck and I feel like his characterization was handled well. The movie had some sappy and cheesy scenes otherwise, but not terrible overall.

The Breast Men of journalist movies, as opposed to the All The President's Men. There's something offputting and cheap about it, maybe because the original story relies on things like the dull work of fact checking. Hayden is pretty good as a sleazy pathological liar.

Adroitly structured by intercutting a rather standard, if suspenseful, narrative investigation of a young journalist... I mean, fiction writer, Stephen Glass, who made up stories & got them published in the New Republic as reporting, with a bathetic vignette of Glass returning to his high school to be greeted as its most successful graduate. Christensen is a knockout as the dweeby obsequious but also wildly talented Glass, and director Ray probably deserves most of the credit.

Felt a little slow to start, but as the film moved into the main point of the story, it became very tense and intriguing. Another sort of so-so, whiny performance from Hayden, but amazing supporting turn from Sarsgaard. You can really see the disbelief, disappointment, and subsequent rage on his face as the lies unravel.

Reminds me of Good Night, Good Luck not so much because it's about journalism but because the film has such a narrow focus. Most people have never even heard of the New Republic, let alone read it. Even with a fairly short run time the film is basically running on fumes for the last 40 minutes. The nadir of the film is the terribly hammy scenes in the classroom.

1. I could have like Stephen if Christensen hasn't wrecked Star Wars. 2. How often do I put on a front even to myself? 3. Gosh darn profanity.

Very interesting topic, though the manner in which it's told is a bit lacking. I was distracted by the hopscotch chronology, but in the end the film calms down and really draws you in. Recommended for drama fans and those like me who are sticklers for veracity in the media. Answers to KGB's questions: Everyone was not proud of him--he imagined the applause. He fooled people by being very humble and being their best friend, knowing their every taste. I knew someone like him once; they do exist.

A solid little journalism story that isn't as clever as it thinks it is, elevated to greatness by a series of pitch-perfect performances. This is Sarsgaard's breakout role, and he is sensational, delivering a performance to build a career on. Christensen, for once, is given a role without a macho leading man persona attached, and turns in strong work as a sniveling little weasel. One of the best, and most overlooked films of 2003.

Really enjoyed this movie. I often enjoy dramas based on fact. Too bad people don't watch things like this before they go on their rampage of hoaxing. Or, for that matter, believing in hoaxes.

An interesting yet not very engaging movie. The periodistic, factual (and as flawed as the character) approach to the story makes a great meta-message. It's a well thought tight movie with a good performance by the cast.

Compelling film about shoddy journalism with a decent if at times annoying performance from Hayden Christensen as plagiarist Stephen Glass. Peter Sarsgaard deservedly won plaudits as Glass's boss who must bring down his rogue reporter.

Could've been better with a little more flash. Journalism makes for good stories--on paper. On screen they need a little more oomph to take away the dryness. Still, a good intellectual film.

Really interesting story about a journalist who makes his stories up to have something worth reading, and then ultimately gets found out. Christensen, as usual, sucks at acting, but it doesn't completely wreck the movie.
