It's amazing they didn't include a treasure map along with the laundry list of tasks they want this family to check off before returning their kidnapped daughter. I had fun with it though if only for Pierce Brosnan bursting onto the screen like a jack in the box. It's just over ninety minutes of your life, but I would honestly argue that Brosnan's entrance alone makes that time well spent. It should be noted that I quite clearly do not know the value of time.

Everything about this film is silly and convoluted. You immediately wonder ... if I'm going to kidnap your child and demand all your money (Brosnan's first demand), why would I be physically sitting in your car? This and many other questions are never really adequately addressed. There's a series of twists that are really pretty clever, but they're ridiculous and you can't help but notice that this hideously complex plan is totally unnecessary. I think Donald Kaufman wrote this film.

A really great thriller starring Gerard Butler, Maria Bello and Pierce Brosnan. It took a while for me to get into this movie. I didn't understand why Pierce Brosnan was being such a psychopath to this poor couple but by the end when they reveal the twist you just nod your head and say oooooohhh. So yeah, this movie takes a bit to get used to but it is worth the patience as it is a wonderful thrill ride. I still can't believe how this movie ends. You'll just have to see it to believe it.

Poor mistunderstood polyamoric man being attacked by a 007 agent. Probably the worst acting and script in history.

I really enjoyed this one! The idea that someone would disrupt the perfect existence of a perfect couple for no obvious reason was intriguing. Whilst I am not too impressed with Butler, I have always thought that Brosnan and Bello were very capable, and their performances in this were terrific. One reviewer comments that there is 'not a lot of action' but that, to me, is a good thing; no pointless running around, just thought provoking drama. The twists at the end were terrific. Recommended

This entertaining thriller is a welcome addition to the genre. Great build-up, and the ending is worth the wait. Interesting casting choices. Worth a watch.

Average story, predictable end-twist (saw it coming from miles away), bad acting. Just nothing special. And that 'camera-turning-scene' lol lol lol lol lol

A few interesting plot-twists make this otherwise predictable film go.

Shallow thriller with a fairly standard twist. Brosnan is by far the movies high-point (it is a shame he gave so much of his career to those awful fucking Bond movies). The plot and direction have a very standard feel, that won't particuarly excite, but won't leave you completely unentertained either. The final twist feels clumsy in presentation and can been seen coming from the proverbial mile away, but is satisfying enough to make "Butterfly on a Wheel" worth a watch.

"Shattered", although it can't rise above the eternal B-movie swamp, is a rather pleasant surprise and an above average low-budget thriller. Despite predictable development, it is redeemed by its twist ending that I must admit I did not see coming and provided a fresh variation of the conventional storyline.

If you're running out of thrillers, you might as well give this a watch. The last Brosnan movie I've seen that was worth watching.

Intruiging, fast, well-acted on the overall. This film starts of pretty good and has a decent story that gets totally ruined with its crappy ending.

Almost ended in an uneventful fashion, but wrapped up fairly neatly. Not a lot of action though.

Straight to DVD, but a better thriller than many that reach the theaters. If you rent this film, as I did, with no foreknowledge of the plot and few expectations, you may be pleasantly surprised, as I was.
